by wade peele on 11/12/10I think its time to throw a beer tasting party with my friends. The best way to do this is to have everyone bring a different 12 pack of beer. I'm looking for suggestions on what different brands/types of beer they should bring. Let me know what you think. Cheers!!!!!!

Ypsilanti Summer Beer Festival July 23-24
by wade peele on 07/27/10
We got to taste some great beer from Michigan brewing companies! It's hard to believe how many different types and flavors of beer are brewed right here in Michigan. Some of our favorites were:
Vanillia Porter-Frog Island Brewing Co
Wolverine Premium Lager-Wolverine State Brewing Co.
Detroit Lager & Detroit Dwarf-Detroit Brewing Co.
Red Jacket amber & Lift Bridge Brown-Keweenaw Brewing Co.
Raspberry Wheat & Margarita- Big Buck Brewery
Bee Sting Honey rye- Walldorff Brewpub
Badass American Lager-Michigan Brewing Co
Amber Ale's
by wade peele on 05/14/10Tonight I tasted two Amber Ale's. Bell's and Roscoe's Hop House Craft Ale. Both decent tasting beers and I would drink both of them again. I preferred the Bell's. Roscoe's had more of the malt flavor and Bell's had a thicker less sweet taste to it. Try them out and let me know what you think. Cheers!
Wild Blue blueberry lager
by wade peele on 05/09/10Never thought of drinking a "fruity" beer before. Sure, I've added a slice of lime, lemon, and even an orange to my beer before. I figured if I want "fruity" I would drink a glass of wine. Tonight I tried Wild Blue Blueberry Lager. I must admit I liked it. It had a light head and was burgundy in color. You could smell the blueberry and the taste was smoothe and a little sweet. Its a god beer to have when you want one or two and is quite refreshing. I would recommend this to someone who has never liked the taste of beer but is willing to try. This was such a surprise to me I think its time for a raspberry beer next! Let me know what "fruity beers you like.

IPA
by wade peele on 04/23/10Tried my first IPA last night, it was Crooked Tree IPA. I got to say it is not the beer for me. Beer was bitter, almost medicine tasting. Not sure if all IPA's taste like this????
Allagash Beer
by wade peele on 04/20/10I recently got a chance to have a tasting of some allagash beer. My favorite was Odyssey a great Ale aged in oak barrels. I had one bottle of the 600 cases produced and I want the rest for myself. It was a great tasting dark ale, smooth, without a bad lingering aftertaste. It packed a punch with 10.4% alcohol. Taste it if you can you wont be dissapointed!
